Ami's Gift
Set up in memory of Chew Valley resident Ami Millard, whose dedication and commitment to her children was unsurpassed.
To honour her legacy “Ami’s Gift” was set up to provide funding to support children and their families through illness and grief.

Training: Last year with your donations Ami’s Gift funded Winston's Wish to provide training on three occasions to teachers and support workers who may encounter bereaved children in their care. Classes were held both in Wrington and Stanton Drew. Representatives from over 35 schools attended the training. Resources were provided which came recommended from Winston's Wish in the form of books that both the children and care workers could work from, covering a range of ages and abilities. They are especially important to schools catering for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
We propose to fund this training every year and provide resources to anyone in need.

Books: We are currently holding resources for schools, children and families. These are available immediately for anyone who needs them.

Funding for accessories: For parents and caregivers, having a child witness your illness is inevitably hard. Being able to ease some of the impact of change to your children by having decent wig could be a financial burden. There will be people who will struggle to find this extra money during such a difficult time. So we will now look to support those families during treatment too. If you or someone you know needs help with funding for accessories, such as wigs or chemotherapy headwear please let us know, as we may be able to help.
